Project Outline
The North-South Line of the Jakarta Metro was planned to alleviate chronic traffic congestion in the Jakarta metropolitan area in Indonesia. The Metro was constructed with a yen loan from the Japanese government to the Indonesian government as the first integrated export of Japanese railway systems promoted by the public and private sectors and opened in March 2019. As a consultant, we have been in charge of construction supervision in railway systems and rolling stock. We have also supported preparations for the opening of the line, as well as the operation and maintenance, which is the foundation of Japan’s world-class railway services, even after the opening. This project is the second phase of a subsequent consulting project to improve the operation and maintenance of the railway. A joint venture has been established by Nippon Koei Co, Ltd. and us, as the lead manager, for consulting service to provide operational and maintenance know-how for the autonomous operation of the railway service. This know-how instruction covers establishing improvement activities for the railway and implementing heavy maintenance on the rolling stock.
On June 18, 2023, His Majesty the Emperor of Japan visited the rolling stock depot on an official call to Indonesia. A project manager of JIC, MRTJ executives and staff guided His Majesty the facilities at the depot and how MRTJ staff maintain the rolling stock.
